The Rocket® Seldinger Chest Drainage Kit combines the benefits of small bore catheterisation with the ease and reliability of the Seldinger approach. Small bore catheters have been shown to be as effective as larger drains without the disadvantage of patient discomfort 1,2,3.

The Rocket® Seldinger Chest Drainage Kit is for the percutaneous introduction of a chest tube for pleural drainage of fluid and air and is particularly suitable for:

  • Pneumothorax, spontaneous or iatrogenic.
  • Effusions, benign or malignant, except those with high protein content.
  • Low viscosity empyema.
*critical components available separately

The Rocket® IPC is designed for the intermittent, long term drainage of symptomatic, recurrent pleural effusion, abdominal ascites and other recurrent effusions that do not respond to medical management of underlying disease.

Utilising a tunnelled silicone catheter that is designed for insertion in hospital, the pleural drainage bottles with vacuum, or the peritoneal bags which utilise gravity, are designed to be used in the community setting.

Rocket® IPC offers an alternative long term method of managing pleural and peritoneal ascites allowing patients to be managed in the community which offers significant advantages:

Early discharge •• Minimised repeat admission •• Improved quality of life •• Improved control over discomfort and breathlessness •• Reduced cost

Rocket® IPC™ Dressing Pack & Bottle

*available in 600ml and 1000ml drainage bottle sizes and different package configuration

The system features:

UNIQUE FLOW CONTROL:

Gives patient or carer total control over fluid flow, significantly reducing discomfort during drainage.

Reduces risk of accidental vacuum release prior to catheter connection.

SAFETY VALVE WITH UNIQUE LOCKING SYSTEM:

Prevents leakage of air or fluid.

Prevents accidental disconnection during drainage.

Prevents accidental loss of valve caps, minimising contamination.

The Rocket® Ambulatory Chest Drain with flutter valve, integral vent discs, activated carbon filter and empty valve is the ideal way to increase mobility in those patients who are draining fluid and/or have a minimal air leak.

  • Flutter Valve Protection – Ensures valve patency all times.
  • Flutter Valve – Provides safe one way passage of air and fluid from the chest.
  • Integral Vent Discs – Allows effective venting of air whilst preventing spillage of bag content.
  • Activated Carbon Filter – Reduces odour.
  • Absorbent Backing – For increased patient comfort.
  • Empty Valve – Allows emptying of the drain that conforms to infection control guidelines.
  • External Valve – Allows effective venting of air in patients who may have a brisk air leak.
  • Designed for use in the hospital or community setting.

The Rocket® Thoracentesis Set 6FG is for the drainage of fluid from the pleural space.

The smaller, 6FG catheter and needle delivers the ideal combination of drainage with reliable insertion characteristics, requiring less force.

The flexible 6FG catheter is designed to safely remain in situ whilst post drainage checks are performed.

The system is indicated for the percutaneous introduction of a catheter into the chest for the drainage of fluid and features:

  • 6Fg CATHETER MOUNTED ON 18G NEEDLE: to give the ideal combination of drainage with superior insertion characteristics requiring less force.
  • CE MARKED, PURPOSE DESIGNED DEVICE, designed specifically for Thoracentesis and drainage of pleural effusions and other drainage applications which avoid the risks of inappropriate use of non specific devices.
  • CURVED CATHETER: to minimise the risk of occlusion after insertion.
  • MOUNTED ASPIRATION SYRINGE: provides the classic and reliable indication of correct needle tip during insertion and also permits easy collection of a pleural fluid sample
  • SOFT STITCH PLATE: allows the catheter to be secured into position with tape or sutures if required.
  • TUBING EXTENTION & 3 WAY TAP: allowing easier and more comfortable access for aspiration.
  • DRAINAGE BAG INCLUDED: The set includes a 2L drainage bag to save time and reduce costs. For the drainage of air, a properly vented, chest drainage bag with a non-return flutter or Heimlich type valve such as the Rocket® Ambulatory Bag R54564 MUST be used.

For the treatment of spontaneous, iatrogenic simple pneumothorax.

The system features:

  • 8Fg CATHETER MOUNTED ON 18G NEEDLE: to give the best combination of drainage with superior insertion characteristics requiring less force.
  • SELF CONTAINED ONE WAY VALVE AND VENT: retains fluid for subsequent drainage whilst allowing air to freely escape, preventing return to the pleural space.
  • J CURVED CATHETER: to minimise the risk of occlusion after insertion.
  • MOUNTED ASPIRATION SYRINGE: provides the classic and reliable indication of correct needle tip position during insertion.
  • HYDROCOLLOID FIXATION DEVICE: Provides safe anchoring and protection of catheter for up to one week.
  • Enables the patient to shower with catheter inserted.
  • Reduces the risk of accidental displacement or movement of the catheter and consequent enlargement of puncture site
  • Minimises contamination of puncture site from environment.
  • SIGNAL DIAPHRAGM: deflects upwards when the catheter tip enters the pleural space and continues to fluctuate in time with respiration. When the patient is asymptomatic, the static signal diaphragm may indicate the pneumothorax is resolved.
  • POSITIVE PRESSURE RELEASE VALVE: to allow safe drainage of pneumothorax if one-way valve and vent become compromised.
  • NEEDLELESS PORT: To allow drainage of collected fluid.

The Rocket® Blunt Dissection Chest Drain Insertion Pack is available for those instances when it would be inappropriate or difficult to use a small bore Seldinger chest drain such as a traumatic incident or the drainage of blood.

BLUNT TIPPED CATHETER: Used in conjunction with a stiffener so the catheter can be inserted in a more controlled manner.

CURVED ROBERTS FORCEPS: To allow controlled dissection of the intercostal muscles over the rib.

RADIOPAQUE STRIPE: to allow accurate checking of catheter position.

COMPLETE INSERTION PACK: Including a gown, drapes, suture and dressings.
