NOVATECH® GSS™

NOVATECH® GSS™ Gold Studded Stents, a decisive innovation related to the famous DUMON® stents, is made of transparent implant grade silicone with studs filled with gold and barium sulfate, combining good x-ray visibility with optimized endoscopic tissue monitoring, i.e. X-ray visibility plus tissue monitoring.

NOVATECH and the LOT number are imprinted on each GSS™. This way, the stent can easily be traced back to its origin if necessary.

The NOVATECH® GSS™ Gold Studded Stents comes in 4 different types of stents: TD/TF, BD, Y, OKI and ST.

 

pul2DUMON® Stent

DUMON® stents are made of specially treated medical grade transparent or radiopaque silicone without reinforcement (implantable for more than 29 days). They are considered the “golden standard to which all others should be compared”.1

Depending on design, there are 2, 3 or 4 lines of studs on the stent outside. This stud system has proven its reliability for improved stent fixation between the cartilaginous rings of the trachea and the bronchial tree.

The stent inside is treated with a silicone-based layer which makes the surface anti-adherent, minimizing the risk of obstructions and improving mucociliary clearance.

For the various indications and their sites, a large variety of stent types are available as well as a large choice of lengths and diameters.

SILMET® Stent

SILMET® is a self-expanding stent made of nitinol, an alloy of nickel and titanium.

With nitinol, NOVATECH makes use of the shape-memory-effect which refers to the ability of nitinol to undergo shape deformation at one temperature, then recover its original undeformed shape at another temperature (here: body temperature). Nitinol is excellently biocompatible while highly resistant to corrosion thus minimizes the risk of trauma. The special mesh structure of the nitinol wire (standard mesh length is 5 mm*) gives SILMET® a high resistance against compression and ensures that the stent maintains its structure and function even in the unlikely event of a broken wire.

For easier localization by X-ray, Silmet® stents have radio-opaque gold markers. Due to the fact that the stent is fully covered, it can even be removed, because the polyester cover minimizes the risk of tissue ingrowth, which may happen if a non-covered or partially covered stent is used. Compared to silicone stents, Silmet® stents have thinner walls allowing a larger airflow.

SILMET® is entirely handcrafted and comes sterile inside its placement system and complements the line of GSS™ and DUMON® silicone stents (both considered as basic references) for such indications which do not allow silicone stent placement.

As a standard, all SILMET® stents are fully covered from end to end by a polyester cover. Three standard designs are available: SILMET® MCS, SILMET® XF, SILMET® CO.
